Our Mission

The DCIF (Department of Chemistry Instrumentation Facility) is a shared instrument facility with strong roots in the MIT Chemistry and Engineering community. Our newly-renovated (2018-19) lab has first-in-class NMR, mass spectrometry, and EPR tools for a wide range of research problems, including chemical biology, chemical structure determination, NMR binding and screening assays, and high-resolution mass analysis. Our NMR lab features cryoprobe sensitivity at 600 MHz, full multinuclear capability, and a wide range of techniques for in situ NMR characterization. Our mass spectrometry lab has ESI, DART, and MALDI capability tuned to small organics, polymers, and biomolecules.

Main Applications – Synthetic and Process Chemistry, Polymer synthesis and characterization, Electrolyte studies, Biomolecule structure and binding studies
