Our Mission

The George J. Kostas Nanoscale Technology and Manufacturing Research Center is the primary user facility for micro and nanofabrication at Northeastern University. The facility provides support and materials based on user fees.

Quick List of Facility Features:

  • 7,000 sq. ft. user facility
  • Capabilities for processing 3, 4, and 6-inch wafers (as well as smaller parts at a lower cost)
  • Cleanroom space down to Class 10
  • Instruments for Micro/Nanofabrication processes
  • Characterization studies, including metrology

 

Non-cleanroom lab space includes:

  • Chemical hoods
  • Device-testing areas with a full range of electrical test instruments and design areas

Facility Access Steps

  1. Download the MOU, and send the completed form to Sivasubramanian Somu ([email protected]), the Facility Director
  2. Provide the Facility Director with your certificate of insurance
  3. Read though Lab Safety information below and take the safety quiz to obtain your certificate
  4. Provide the Lab Director with your Purchase Order (PO) for the prescribed amount
  5. Register an account for the Kostas Center Web Portal
  6. Complete Lab Safety Walkthroughs
  7. Complete Equipment-Specific Walkthroughs
